Jeanine Áñez, the de facto President of Bolivia, has done many things since she took power. A couple of days ago she had 700 Cuban doctors expelled back to the island country. It was claimed that some Cuban medical professionals were participating in unrest and spying. Now she has established relations with the State of Israel, making Bolivia turn its back on the Palestinians which Evo Morales has long had solidarity with.
Bolivia originally cut ties with Israel in 2009 after they launched a military campaign in Palestine known as Operation Cast Lead, calling it a “serious threat to world peace”.
“The resignation of President Morales, who was hostile to Israel, and his replacement with a friendly administration, has enabled the process to come to fruition,” said Israeli foreign minister Yisrael Katz
